Displaying custom taxonomy related to a post in WordPress

WordPress 3.0 has some awesome new features; mainly custom post types. The portfolio section of my site as well as the home banners both take advantage custom post types.

For the portfolio, I created a custom taxonomy in order to associate each project with an overarching skill (ie PHP, Ruby on Rails, PSD to HTML, etc).

So how do you show a post’s related custom taxonomy? Well, I looked in the usual places, but couldn’t find it. With a little help of Google, I finally discovered the secret sauce.

the_terms($post->ID, 'slug-of-taxonomy', $before, $sep, $after);
